Safeguarding Policy

Overview

I am committed to offering a safe, ethical, and supportive counselling environment. As part of my duty of care, I pay attention to any concerns about risk or safeguarding that may arise during our work together.

Confidentiality and its limits

Everything you share in counselling is confidential. However, I may need to break confidentiality if:

  • there is a serious risk of harm to you or someone else
  • there are safeguarding concerns involving a child or vulnerable adult
  • I am required to do so by law

Where possible, I will always try to discuss this with you first.

Responding to risk

If I become concerned about your safety or wellbeing, I may:

  • talk with you about the concern
  • seek guidance from my clinical supervisor
  • contact appropriate services (e.g., your GP, emergency services, safeguarding teams) if necessary

My aim is always to support your safety with care and transparency.

Record keeping

Any safeguarding concerns are recorded clearly and stored securely, in line with my Privacy Policy.

Ongoing commitment

I undertake regular safeguarding training and review my policies to ensure safe and ethical practice.
